Colin Firth

Who enamours the eyes, provokes the heart and entrances the soul better than Colin Firth as Darcy in the screen version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice? Probably Rolex’s equally dazzling rendition of the Datejust! The Datejust Royal Black can claim same degree of adoration if not more. Darcy had been epitomized as the ultimate lover whom women have loved to hate and loved to love equally. The Rolex Datejust Royal Black has earned a reputation for itself as a watch that has very seldom escaped anyone’s notice and with time the Datejust Royal Black is only destined to test deeper waters and emerge successful. Colin Firth is popular because he has always gracefully played his age on screen and has done it with tremendous passion and an understated elegance that very few can equal.

Firth made his debut with Another Country alongside actor Rupert Everett in 1984. A couple of years later Colin starred in Lost Empires with Sir Laurence Olivier. However, Firth achieved unprecedented success with the BBC small screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Nobody could have done the kind of justice that Firth did to the role with his natural charm and subdued intelligence.

Firth played the cuckolded husband in The English Patient with great sensitivity. He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in the film. Firth was next cast as Lord Wessex in Shakespeare in Love, a villainous role quite contrary to Firth’s usual roles on screen, but a performance essayed nonchalantly. It was Firth playing Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary series that earned him the European Film Awards Audience Award and nominations for a BAFTA and Satellite Award for Best Actor in 2000. Apparently Firth was cast as Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary because of his brilliant performance in the television series. Despite Renee’s overwhelming performance in the film series Firth in his quintessential way also left an indelible mark on the audience’s mind

Firth was nominated for the European Film Awards Audience Awards for Best Actor for Girl with a Pearl Earring in 2002. Firth also played the doting father Henry Dashwood in What a Girl Wants in 2003.

In 2007 Firth acted in And When Did You Last See Your Father? and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. His character Harry Bright in Mamma Mia got him a nomination for a National Movie Award in 2007. Colin’s much ambitious project Dorian Grey where he plays the epicure Lord Henry Wotton is in post production stage and is slated to release later this year. Firth also stars as George Orwell in Catalonia based on the brilliant writer’s life.

The Rolex Datejust Royal Black’s razzmatazz is the stuff glamour is made of. Yet somewhere the watch stops being flashy and comes across as a classic example of the most favoured name in time keeping, Rolex. The 36 mm watch is made from 18ct white gold and is splurged with diamonds all across its face. The striking bezel is studded in baguette diamonds which are also known as baguette sapphires. The dial of the watch is set in brilliants and together with the self wound mechanism gives the watch a distinct edge over other watches. The stingray leather and rubber strap of the Datejust Royal Black is also set with the precious stones. The watch is waterproof to 100 metres and is crystallized in sapphire. The Datejust Royal Black and Colin Firth are seductively magnetic and exude a charm that you can hardly hold yourself from falling under.
