Sir Sean Connery And Rolex Datejust Turn-O-Graph; Bonding With The Best

Sean Connery

If one were to think of Tuxedos, James Bond would be the first thing to flash through and the best accessory to go with it would be a Rolex. The very next thing to pop into the mind would be Sir Sean Connery, the original bond. To think of it Tuxedos, Sir Sean Connery and Rolex share some very similar traits: stylish, bold, handsome, classic, luxurious are a few to enumerate. Rolex instantly brings to mind timepieces that have marked a revolution in the world of watch-making. Ever since it brought out the first waterproof watch in 1926, Rolex has been known for its innovation and quality around the world. Whenever the word luxury is used in reference to watches the first name that springs up is that of Rolex. Rolex has defined luxury and class when it comes to timepieces. And by owning a Rolex one can feel the difference. Having one clasped on to the wrist could alleviate the soul to a level that could make one feel no less than 007.

Sir Sean Connery has so far been the most celebrated James Bond in the history of Bond movies, giving class and definition to the popular character. So impressive was his performance in the first feature Dr.Rolex Datejust Turnograph No that the creator Ian Fleming decided to create a half-Scottish, half-Swiss heritage for the literary James Bond in the later novels. He has been polled as the “greatest living Scot” and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in July 2000. He has also been voted the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine and at the age of 69 he was voted the Sexiest Man of the Century. He has won awards not only as an actor but as a producer as well. He has bagged Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards in various categories. His other notable performances have been in films like Murder on the Orient Express, The Untouchables, Marnie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October, Dragonheart, The Rock and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

An extraordinary timepiece, the Rolex Datejust Turn-O-Graph combines functionality with comfort as it has a bezel that can be rotated in both directions for easy measurement of elapsed time spans. The 904L steel alloy used to create the case is normally reserved for the chemical industry where maximum resistance against corrosion is a priority. The 904L steel also blends in very well with the other precious materials used in making Rolex timepieces. The bracelet is as carefully sculpted as the movement, to generate not only handsome but comfortable timepieces. The Easylink on the bracelet helps in adjustment of up to 5mm in case of temporary expansion of the wrist due to an increase in temperature, altitude or due to physical activity. In-keeping with the true Rolex tradition the Rolex Datejust Turn-O-Graph is also water resistant down to depths of a 100 metres/330 feet. So once a Rolex is strapped on with a tuxedo it would be occasion for one to say in true James Bond style: The name is Rolex….. Rolex SA!

All Things Bright And Beautiful With Rolex Datejust Royal Pink And Rachel Weisz

Rachel WeiszAs human beings it is our tendency to be attracted to all things bright and beautiful. The Rolex Datejust Royal Pink from the latest collection of 2009 makes for an extremely attractive timepiece. This Rolex Datejust is a variant of the much celebrated Rolex Datejust Royal Black. With an add-on of Everose gold that gives it the marvellous colour royal pink. A very bright and beautiful lady happens to be Rachel Weisz whose talent surpasses her gorgeous looks. The Rolex Datejust Royal Pink as well has the backing of sound technology along with its beautifully crafted exterior. Something that Rolex has always ensured has been to make timepieces beautiful not only on the outside but the inside as well. That is the reason why Rolex watches have been so popular and impressionable, and are still running strong. Rachel Weisz too seems to be gaining popularity with each of her film’s release.

Rachel Hannah Weisz popularly known as Rachel Weisz gained world-wide recognition for her work in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. She began her career with television with parts in Inspector Morse and later graduating to cinema with Chain Reaction and Stealing Beauty. However, The Mummy has been one her most memorable performances and the one that marked her foray into Hollywood. She moved on to doing many popular roles in movies like About A Boy, Constantine, The Fountain, Definitely, Maybe. Her work in The Constant Gardener not only won her accolades but also won her awards including Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture, Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture, London Film Critics Circle Award for British Actress of Rolex Datejust Royal Pink the Year, British Independent Film Award, San Diego Film Critics Society Award for Best Supporting Actress. Rachel Weisz is currently playing Blanche DuBois in the Donmar revival of A Streetcar Named Desire.

The desirable Rolex Datejust Royal Pink is 36mm in size that makes it work well for women. Everose gold gives the watch its ever-lasting royal pink that promises not to fade with time or exposure to chlorine as the gold beads have platinum embedded in them. The bracelet is remarkable as well with the choice of getting the stingray leather and rubber strap with or without brilliants. The bezel is set with baguette diamonds and also has diamonds gracing the dial. Each diamond and stone to be set on a Rolex has to qualify the high standards that have been set. That’s how each Rolex gets its quality of being called a work-of-art. The oyster case back is an innovation that protects the movement from shocks, pressure, dust and water that makes it extremely reliable. The Rolex Datejust Royal Pink like its brethren is water resistant to 100 metres/330 feet. The words on the dial stating that the watch is a Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified means that the movement has survived 15 days and nights of tests by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres ensuring precision even under the toughest conditions. All this makes the Rolex Datejust Royal Pink from the 2009 collection absolutely bright, beautiful and reliable, traits the watch shares with Rachel Hannah Weisz.

Cat Deeley And Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Are For Those Who Love To Stand Out

Cat Deeley

The holiday season is a perfect time to flaunt the good things in life one has collected. One such essential is a Rolex. Owning a Rolex definitely makes one stand out in a crowd. Rolex has always been working on innovations that set the standards for the rest of the watch-making world. One such innovation is included in the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. The innovation is an Easy Link that has been added to the Oysterlock bracelet that helps extend the watch by 5mm for maximum comfort in case the wrist expands due to an increase in temperature, altitude or physical activity like dancing. A great way to deal with the holiday season weight gain is dancing. And the host for the show So You Think You Can Dance happens to be the very tall and beautiful Cat Deeley. Cat Deeley started off as a model and now makes for an engaging TV presenter. Equally engaging are all Rolex timepieces, however, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in Everose Gold is one with exceptional beauty and performance.

Exceptional beauty and performance can be witnessed on the show So You Think You Can Dance as well, with the dancers taking care of the performance bit and Cat Deeley taking care of the glamour quotient. Cat Deeley makes for quite an entertaining television presenter. Besides being an excellent host she has also been a fashion model and a disc jockey. Cat Deeley began her modelling career at the age of 14 and graduated on to television in 1994 with the series Kilroy. By 1997 she became an MTV UK presenter and left full time modelling. She is a popular host and has presented the 2004 BRIT Awards, Stars In Their Eyes, UK coverage for the sixth season of American Idol and now the popular US reality show So You Think You Can Dance to name a few. Cat Deeley maintains homes in Beverly Hills and London.

Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in Everose Gold is ideal for measuring elapsed time and calculating average speed. It has a sweep second hand, minute and hour totalisators and a graduated tachometer bezel. The bezel is engraved and calibrated for an instant read-off of speeds. The beautiful pink colour of the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in Everose Gold comes with a guarantee to last a lifetime as within the everose gold beads lies the humble element platinum that locks in the colour and ensures it does not fade away with time. The Oyster case back saves the movement from shocks, pressure, dust and water. This adds-on to the water resistant quality of the watch as it is tested to guarantee resistance down to 100metres/330 feet. The unique chronograph movement solely engineered by Rolex took more than five years to develop. The architecture reduces the complexity by incorporating a mere 290 components that is far less than a standard chronograph. This innovation ensures chronometric precision and guarantees improved reliability. With such engineering and innovations behind its beautiful pink everose gold exterior, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona truly stands out and is extremely eye-catching like Cat Deeley who shall always stand out not only because of her good looks but also as she is 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Derek Johnston Strengthens His Claim To Win Rolex 24 Driver Challenge

Rolex Daytona At 24 Daytona Driver Challenge

The importance attached to the events Rolex promotes and is involved with can be gauged from the kind of enthusiasm shown and the amount of hard work rendered by all the drivers racing in various motorsports events in the European continent so that they can garner enough points to beat rest of the racers and win the Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco. The latest driver to stake a strong claim to winning the prestigious opportunity is that of Derek Johnston, the sensational winner of the Radical UK Cup. His recent two victories at Snetterton have pushed him to be among the top of the points’ ladder and made the race to win the Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco more entertaining and down to the very last races in the European motorsports circuit.

The competition that started off at the start of the season has now extended to the October 10 SPEED finale with fingers of race champions and their fans crossed as to who would be the driver to get to race among the best drivers in the most important race of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series season, Rolex 24 At Daytona in the year 2010. The competition had got more intense when Daniel Ricciardo raced remarkably well to win at Brand Hatch and became the British F3 Champion. His performance had pushed him to the number two spot in the overall points chart for the Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco. The significance of winning the chance became more apparent when within a week Daniel Ricciardo was pushed lower down the table by the stunning performance by the 47 year old driver Derek Johnston.

Derek Johnston

Derek Johnston entered the last weekend’s two races as the leading driver in Radical UK Cup at Snetterton with his fellow driver Stuart Moseley. He drove like a champion throughout and made sure that they’ll stay at top when he handed the wheel over to Stuart Moseley. His performance in the races ensured that he’ll be the champion of the Radical UK Cup in 2009 a feat he had achieved last year too. The only thing which made the win sweeter this time was the fact that the championship and the points he has accumulated have taken him to the second spot in the race to winning Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco.

Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco is a chance for the drivers in Europe and UK to get the elusive opportunity of racing in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The drivers racing in the Radical UK Cup, Cooper Tires British F3 International Series, SPEED Sports Prototype Series and Avon Tyres British GT Championship would be competing not only within their respective championships to win but would also compete with everyone else across different championships to try and win the Rolex 24 At Daytona Driver Challenge presented by Sunoco too. Who would get to be that driver would become clear very

Sanjeev Bhaskar And Rolex GMT Master II Are The Masters Of Their Own Turf

Sanjeev Bhaskar

Laughter can get one through any situation in life. However, with the holiday season approaching one needs to be well cushioned with a strong dose of laughter and a few ear plugs to get through the chatter that can prove fatal on family dinners. Flaunting one’s assets at such occasions is an absolute essential. However, for those who own a Rolex they need not worry too much as one hello wave with a Rolex clasped firm on the wrist can surely silence from a few for the rest of the evening. One of the most famous families on television has been The Kumar’s at No. 42. Sanjeev Bhaskar has done a wonderful job of portraying the horror anyone would go through if they were to stay with their parents the entire year. So in case one would wish to pick a timepiece from the collection of Rolex, the Rolex GMT Master II is a wonderful watch. It is the one thing that can survive the dinners as it is water resistant and has an oyster case back that protects the timepiece from shocks, pressure, dust and water.

Beginning his career with a musical comedy double act called “The Secret Indians (non-Asian)” Sanjeev Bhaskar’s talent was bound to be noticed. It is while one of his performances that he was asked to be a part of the hit show Goodness Gracious Me. With The Kumars at No. 42 Sanjeev Bhaskar created a niche for himself as a respectable comedian of Indian origin. Bhaskar moved on to display his talent in movies like Anita and Me, documentary series like India with Sanjeev Bhaskar which he later on turned into a book of the same name that became a Sunday Times bestseller in 2007. Being raised in an initially foreign land that now he can call home, acceptance did not come easy and his choice of career too did not go down well with his parents. However, Mr Bhaskar’s persistence paid off extremely well and earned him the appointment as the new Chancellor at the University of Sussex February this year.

Rolex GMT Master II

The Rolex GMT Master II has also proved itself by sustaining 15 days and nights of tests to earn the addition of four words to its credit: Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified. It has an independent 12 hour hand to be able to check time simultaneously for a second time zone. The Rolex GMT Master II is an impressive 40mm in size. The bezel itself takes 40 hours to produce. Bezels are prone to deterioration due to sunlight, chlorinated water and scratches. The Cerachrom disc is developed to encompass excellent corrosion-resistant properties, the colour being unaffected by ultraviolet rays and it being virtually scratch proof. The patented technique to produce the bezel includes carving the numerals and graduations before the ceramic hardens. The cerachrom disc is then covered with either yellow gold or platinum, atom by atom, and polished until only the precious metal in the numerals and graduations remains permanently. That is the commitment of each watch from Rolex, to be a dependable and acutely accurate timepiece.

Motorsports Fans Awaiting Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series’ Homestead Finale

Grand-Am

Motorsports fans are spread all across the world with UK being no exception and when the event has Rolex as one of its prime promoters the significance of that event to the participants and the love that its fans bestow on it can never be matched by anything else. Rolex has always been involved in promoting those events where individuals get the chance to push themselves to limits unimaginable to most and has earned for itself a reputation that goes far beyond being the number one maker of best luxurious watches in the world. Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series is perhaps the best example of the philosophy that Rolex endeavours to promote and has been doing with absolute success. The 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series has been a closely fought competition and as the championship draws to a close with the last race of the season next week in Florida, the excitement of thousands of fans of motorsports is reaching its crescendo.

The Grand-Am Road Racing started off only 10 years ago in 1999 and it caught the fancy of every motorsports fan whether in UK or USA or anywhere else. The 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series was another feather in the cap of Rolex as well as world of motorsports with the amazing levels of competition between the drivers, teams and cars which was on display throughout the year. Right from the first race at the Daytona International Speedway at the start of 2009 in January to the penultimate race Utah 250 at Miller Motorsports Park in September, the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series has quite amply demonstrated the value and prestige everyone attaches to the famous racing championship. With only once race left, which is to be held from October 8th to 10th next week at the Homestead Miami Speedway, every fan is hoping that his or her team would the one to be crowned the champion finally. But the way teams are placed it can be anyone’s Rolex trophy this year.

RolexThe team leading the points table with 309 points is the No 99 Gainsco/Bob Stallings Racing team which has performed remarkably well especially in the second half of the championship to be now the one most likely to grab the final top spot. Their only issue is their not so impressive history at the Homestead Miami Speedway and they’ll have to come up with really great showing to make the Rolex championship their own. They are followed by SunTrust Racing team which with 301 points is only 8 eight points behind the leaders. With two top-two-finishes in the last two races they are looking dangerous too. Closely behind them with 299 points is the Telmex Chip Gan

assi with Felix Sabates team. Except for couple of bad races this has been one of the most consistent performers of the year and this makes them a strong contender for the Rolex championship.

Irrespective of who would finally get to lay hands on the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series the most important aspect is the realization of dreams of racers and their fans alike which Rolex takes efforts to ensure.

Stephen Fry And Rolex GMT Master II; For Adventures New And Old

Stephen Fry

Looking at the overcast skies in the afternoon with a nicely brewed cup of herbal tea in hand can drift one to memory lane or drift thoughts to places and adventures yet to be encountered. Yet one glance at the watch could bring you crashing down to reality. However, if that watch turns out to be a Rolex GMT Master II reality could end up elevating one in a way that a silly grin would remain for the rest of the evening. That’s the very irony of owning a Rolex, although it has precise time-keeping abilities, it does have the mesmerizing effect of stopping the time for an admirer. One such is the Rolex GMT Master II in Yellow Gold. The 40mm timepiece is not only eye-catching because of its size but also due to its wonderfully crafted yellow gold exterior. Watching a re-run of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on such an evening had a similar effect as to stop time for me too. It makes one wonder if life could be as simple as picking up a towel and getting a thumb up in the air to hitch a ride to travel the universe. The strong yet soothing voice of the guide or narrator who makes it all sound so easy yet believable turned out to be that of Stephen Fry.

The man is simply talented! Stephen Fry has lent his voice for the audio series of Harry Potter, Roald Dahl, Michael Bond, quite a few videogames and now for the works of his favourite author Oscar Wilde.
Rolex GMT Master II Stephen Fry has also portrayed Oscar Wilde in the 1997 movie Wilde that fulfilled critical acclaim, which he said was a role he was born to play as he was in love with author since he was 13. Not only a brilliant actor Stephen Fry has also mastered comedy, writing, narration, television hosting and film directing. Having been described as “deeply dippy for all things digital” the man has never come across a Smartphone he did not own, has been podcasting and running his own website since 2002 The New Adventures Of Mr. Stephen Fry and currently tweeting to glory on Twitter as well.

By making guest appearances on the Fox crime series Bones as Dr. Gordon Wyatt, Stephen Fry has gained popularity in the US as well. The Rolex GMT Master II also makes similar kind of impact with its independently adjustable 12 hour hand along with a 24 hour hand to be able to get two time zones on one timepiece. The black ceramic rotatable bezel with black dial takes 40 hours to produce as it is made from the hardest ceramic and the numerals and graduations are carved on before the ceramic hardens. This gives the bezel with cerachrom disc its corrosion resistant properties, makes its colour unaffected by ultraviolet rays and the disc virtually scratch proof. The Easylink is an extension system on the clasp that folds out to increase the length of bracelet by 5mm that can accommodate an expansion of the wrists due to an increase in temperature, altitude or physical activity. This is a great watch indeed and a favourite of many just like Stephen Fry is.

Rolex Fastnet Race Champions Heading To Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

Rolex Fastnet Race

Rolex and world of sailing have a long established relationship which has given the world some of the most fantastic regattas that sailors dream of participating in and try their hardest to win too. Two of the most prestigious regattas which are the high points of sailing racing calendar include the Rolex Fastnet Race and Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race both of which boast of Rolex stamp to be counted among the most preferred regattas of the sailors from across the world. Held in two different continents both the regattas are known for providing opportunities to the sailors to come together and push themselves beyond the limits of human endurance and try and live their dreams. This year is going to be a special and memorable year in the history of sailing as for the first time in history the winners of Rolex Fastnet Race would be taking part in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in the same year.

Among the two regattas the 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race has already witnessed one of the strongest ever line ups and some fiercely fought racing time. The fleet in the regatta started off from the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes and took the difficult 608 mile long course which included the famous Fastnet Rock, after which the race is named, and finally returned to the western end of the breakwater in the famous Plymouth Harbour. The 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race saw Farr 100, ICAP Leopard and JV72 Ran emerge as winners. Mike Slade’s Farr 100, ICAP Leopard took the line honours whereas Niklas Zennstrom’s JV72 Ran was the overall winner at this year’s Rolex Fastnet Race.

The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race would be the last regatta of the year and would bring all the sailors to Australia in their hope of conquering the popular regatta. A little longer than the 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race, Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race would require the yachts to sail along a 628 nautical mile long course with Sydney Harbour being the starting point. The course would take them through the Tasman Sea along the eastern coast of Australia and then through the Bass Strait and finally to the Tasman Island. The regatta would come to an end up at the Derwent River in Hobart. As this is going to be the last race of the year no one is going to find it easy to win the prestigious regatta.

For the winners of the 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race who would be creating history just by participating in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race it would also be a chance for bigger glory if they can win this one too. Almost 40 years ago Crusade and Morning Cloud won the line honours and handicap and since then no two British yachts have won the championship in the same year. Going by the kind of performances that Farr 100, ICAP Leopard and JV72 Ran were able to carry out in the 2009 Rolex Fastnet Race it looks highly likely that JH Illingworth Trophy for the line honours and Tattersall’s Cup for the handicap would once again be won by British yachts at the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

Danica Patrick And Rolex Milgauss; Breaking Stereotypes

Danica Patrick

Think car racing and you can only think of a male driver set to speed his way from behind the wheels. Well, Danica Patrick has bent the rule backwards and has snatched car racing out of the male bastion and well into the female territory. The svelte beauty packs in a punch, Danica is not only an auto racer but also a model and advertising spokeswoman. The Rolex Milgauss has bent stereotypes too and introduced the Milgauss edition. The Milgauss comes in a design that doesn’t pre-decide the wearer’s gender and this is what makes Rolex the favorite of both men and women.

Patrick’s shift to England at a young age was with a target in mind. She wanted to perfect her driving skills and the young talent won several World Karting Association championships. In the year 2002, after shifting to the US Patrick won a pole position and was a constant at the podium driving for Rahal Letterman Racing. The team backed her induction into the IRL Indy Car Series in 2005. Danica was only the fourth woman to compete in the Indianapolis 500. She also became the first female driver to have led a race at Indianapolis. She got a good fourth position in the race and led a whopping 19 laps in total. Patrick was named the Rookie of the Year for both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 Indy Car Series season.

The following year started with Patrick’s participation in the Rolex 24 at Daytona where her co-driver was Rusty Wallace. March of Dimes awarded her the title of Sportswoman of the Year for her dedication and perseverance.

In 2007 Patrick signed with Andretti Green Racing, finishing at a best of 7th place at Kansas and returned with a lead in the Bombardier Learjet 550 delivering her career best of third position in a race. At Belle Isle the same year, deftly avoiding potential accidents Patrick swung into action and finished at the second place in the Indy Car Series. Her finish was the best for any female race driver. The year proved to be a good one for Danica as she scored her career best of 424 championship points.

2008 was a lucky year for the driver. Patrick became the only woman to win an Indy Car Race at the Twin Ring Motegi in the Indy Japan 300 race. She finished the 2008 Indy Car Series season in the sixth place.

Rolex Milgauss

This year Danica reappeared in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. She also raced at the Indy 500. She finished in third place, the best finish for a female driver in the race.

The beauty has been on the cover of the June 5, 2006 issue of the Sports Illustrated. She also appears in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in 2008. Patrick has also featured in numerous commercials. Patrick has also been voted the sexiest athlete by Victoria’s Secret and has recently graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in February this year.

The Rolex Milgauss is a watch that draws its strength from a feature that resists against a magnetic flux density of 1000 gauss and hence the watch is reliably accurate at even the most highly magnetic situations. The chronometer is also waterproof to a depth of 330 feet and the black polished bezel gives it a sleek look. The bracelet of the watch is an Oyster clasp with an Easy link. The Milgauss is crystallized in sapphire and self wound. Generalizations are passé with both Danica Patrick and the Milgauss because both are the ultimate gender benders.
