James Martin And Rolex Explorer; Sautéd To Perfection
Watches and culinary skills might not sound like the ideal partners, but they are indelibly linked in stirring up a delectable feast. Besides the regular ingredients that go into making a dish, keeping a note on time is what any culinary expert will tout as the most crucial factor that can make or break a dish. And who would know it better than James Martin, the hugely popular celebrity chef. The Rolex brand of watches is renowned for their accuracy in marking time and they form perfect companions when a celebrity chef is on screen, trying to stir up a recipe in a jiffy and all the time ensuring that he gives enough time for the ingredients to blend in perfectly. Like Martin knows that the time when you add the salt to the food makes all the difference to it, the Rolex Explorer is aware of its indispensability to the process of food making.
Born on 30th June 1972 in North Yorkshire, James Martin first appeared on television in 1996. Remaining true to his native place, James incorporated the Yorkshire flavour in his cooking as well. He hosted the celebrated James Martin: Yorkshire’s Finest specializing in typical Yorkshire cuisine. His popularity rose when James was asked to showcase his gastronomic delights on the BBC 2 program Ready Steady Cook. The chef also happens to be a good dancer, he teamed up with Camilla Dallerup in Strictly Coming Dancing. He came fourth in the celebrity ballroom dancing TV show.
Going back to the kitchen, James co-presented BBC Food’s Stately Suppers alongside Alistair Appleton. He later appeared on the Channel 4 program Richard and Judy. James now hosts the new version of the BBC 1 show Saturday Kitchen. James appeared in the BBC 2 series Sweet Baby James baking delectable puddings, desserts and cakes for the show. Chef Will Torrent served as his assistant on the show. He revisited recipes from places that he had visited in the past for this show. In April that year Martin appeared on Can You Cook It? as a celebrity judge. Martin selected Jake Sawyers as the new Blue Peter “Junior Chef”. The next few months Martin co-hosted the 12 yard series The Great British Village Show on BBC 1. The year ended with Martin cooking it up for James Martin’s Christmas Feasts on UKTV Food.
His next show Eating With The Enemy was finally broadcast in 2008 after being held back for a year. Martin holds the world record in carrot chopping, having peeled and chopped 515g of carrots in a minute. The record was set while filming a special show on the Ready Steady Cook Children In Need Special. Martin has also released the Cuisina by James Martin range of appliances that he designed. In 2003, Martin released the Stellar James Martin range of cookware that he helped style and design in collaboration with Stellar.
The Rolex Explorer has an interesting history behind its conception. The watch was launched to celebrate Sir Edmund Hillary’s success at having ascended the Everest Peak. The watch is extremely reliable in the most extreme of conditions and what better place than a kitchen to test the kind of situations the Rolex Explorer can survive. The Explorer is a perpetual chronometer that is certified to last the most adverse of circumstances. It is only a 36 mm in dial radius and the bezel has a sophisticated polish to it. An Oysterlock bracelet secures the watch on to its wearer, while the self winding watch remains waterproof to 100 metres. The Rolex Explorer and James Martin combine together to serve sautéd perfection.
