Kate Beckinsale And Cellini Orchid- Takes Your Breath Away

Kate Beckinsale One look at Kate Beckinsale and the only thought that comes to your mind is how delicate and breathtaking feminine beauty can be. The actress’s pixie beauty is both captivating and refreshing and Rolex’s latest offering, the Cellini Orchid is not just a visual treat but can give the most expensive diamond bracelet a run for its money. This beauty however is not of the vulnerable kind. It can be deceptively charming while leaving a million victims in its wake.

Born Kathryn Bailey Beckinsale in Finsbury Park, London, the actress has famous parents in actors Richard Beckinsale and Judy Loe. While attending an all girls school in London, Kate won the W.H Smith Young Writer’s competition twice. She finally started her acting career like her parents with a television film about World War II called One Against the Wind that aired in 1991. Beckinsale went on to study French and Russian Literature at New College, Oxford. Her interest in learning about various cultures was because she wanted to enrich her skill as an actress and empower herself to take on more challenging roles.

While studying at Oxford Beckinsale was offered a role in Kenneth Branagh’s much touted film Much Ado About Nothing.1994 got to Kate a role in Prince of Jutland where she was cast opposite actor Christian Bale. Next year Kate starred in Haunted with Aidan Quinn and John Gielgud and also played Emma in the small screen adaptation based on the Jane Austen novel in 1996. Meanwhile Beckinsale also experimented with theatre, landing a role in the well received Cold Comfort Farm.

Kate BeckinsaleHer next film Brokedown Palace released in 1999 and got her the recognition that was required for her to be cast in Pearl Harbour in 2001. Her sensitive portrayal of a nurse during World War II who is caught between serving the nation and keeping the love for a dead lover alive got her critical acclaim both for her beauty and her act. The film was a huge success and the highest grosser that year. She played the female lead in the beautifully told film Serendipity in 2001. Kate was playing Sarah, a girl who meets and keeps meeting the man she will eventually fall in love with over a period of years while she is engaged to be married to some other. Beckinsale went on to act in films like Underworld and Van Helsing. She was cast as Ava Gardner in Scorsese’s The Aviator a role that she played to perfection and gained considerable weight for.

Her director husband Len Wiseman recast her in the sequel to Underworld called Underworld Evolution. The sequel did better at the box office, opening at the #1 spot in the first weekend of its release. In 2006 Beckinsale was cast opposite funny man Adam Sandler in Click, clearly Kate wanted to try out different genres in cinema and comedy was a test that any actor had to go through to prove their mettle. Kate replaced Sarah Jessica Parker in Vacancy that released in 2007. Her next role was as Annie Marchand in Snow Angels releasing in 2008.

Rolex Cellini OrchidKate Beckinsale’s trademark beauty is what the Cellini Orchid is well known for too. The watch as Rolex claims is strictly female and has a gem set case with diamond hour markers. You have an option to choose between the diamond adorned bracelet for the extravagant and the original reptile for those who like to keep it minimalist. The dial is premium mother of pearl with a case material made in 18ct white gold. The bezel comes set with brilliants and the watch is set in quartz movement. Kate Beckinsale and the Rolex Cellini Orchid prove that that which is beautiful can also be good.

Belsma Team for Fastnet Race

Fastnet Race It takes years together for anything to make its mark and stand at the top of the pyramid where it would be an honour for anyone to be associated with it. And when two greats get together it results in something absolutely unimaginable. Not only they add value to each other’s profile but also raise their own stature. Whenever such linkages have been built in the world everyone has taken notice and looked forward to enjoying the result of the best becoming better. The same kind of excitement was too obvious to be missed when two remarkable giants on their own turfs, Rolex and Fastnet Race, came together and thus started the evolution of Rolex Fastnet Race. There could not have been a better tribute to the values that Rolex and Fastnet Race always stood for than the two joining hands in promoting the same even further.

Fastnet Race is a highly renowned and popular yachting race, which ranks at the top among the different classic offshore races. The race covers a distance of 608 miles off the coasts of UK. Its starting point is on the Isle of Wright at Cowes and the end point is Plymouth, both in England. Along its course the race rounds the Fastnet Rock, which is situated off the southwest coast of Ireland and passes just south of the Isles of Scilly. The team that beats the rest can lay its hands on the prestigious Fastnet Challenge Cup.

Fastnet RaceFor many it is still debatable but it is believed that the first Fastnet race was held in the year 1925 and was won by Jolie Brise. The race caught the fancy of yachting enthusiasts from the very beginning and its popularity kept rising race after race. After almost half a century of successful racing in the year 1973 International Offshore Rule was introduced which meant that the yachts and crew could go ahead and take up sponsorships. The race had started off as an annual race but after 1931 it became a biennial event. Since then the yachting teams, crews and fans, all eagerly look forward to this race that is a test of the inner strength and motivation that its participants have.

The significance of the Fastnet Race reached higher levels when Rolex started sponsoring the event. In fact the very name of the race was changed and was rechristened Rolex Fastnet Race. It is now one of the most awaited Rolex events in the whole world. The number of participants in the race has been on a constant rise and the number is fast closing on to a 300 boat strong fleet.

BLESMA, the British Limbless Ex Servicemen Association is well known for providing support and care for the amputees and other disabled ex service personnel. This is something that Rolex always considers quite close to its basic philosophy. BLESMA has been strongly promoting this cause for a long time through different channels. Taking the same cause forward an all disabled BLESMA team is going to take part in the Rolex Fastnet Race 2009 in the month of August. The kind of success BLESMA enjoyed through its successful Transatlantic crossing last year has really pumped the team up and poses a threat to the able-bodied sailors as well.

Rolex on its part always ensures that it does everything it can to associate with events that promote success achieved through sheer hard work and untiring efforts, something it itself brings out in its own offerings. The same motive has been the reason for the pride that Rolex takes in being actively involved with the Fastnet Race.

Rolex Learning Centre: Understanding the Enlightened Being

LausanneThe difference between inventing and pioneering lies in the ability of foreseeing the utilization of something much before it is actually required. Rolex is regarded as a pioneer in the world of watches, crafting such incredible timepieces that are miles ahead of time itself. Knowledge and the exchange of ideas are imperative for the growth of an enlightened generation of individuals that understands the strength of information and its implications on the world we live in. Building itself to become more than a brand for manufacturing the finest watches, Rolex now stands as a symbol that is incorruptible. As individuals we all become susceptible to ways and means that alter the state of humanity, but if we choose to rise above this and become an icon that impacts the very essence of mankind. Providing substantial funding to numerous organisations in an effort to promote knowledge and its access, Rolex initiated a novel effort to facilitate the access to knowledge by setting up the Rolex Learning Centre at the Ecole Polytechique Federale De Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland. This building is a significant structure that can be used to live in as well as facilitate the process of obtaining knowledge thereby accelerating the circulation of ideas.

Rolex Learning CentreThe Rolex Learning Centre project, that began in 2008 is built at a cost of 90 million francs and employs the most groundbreaking architectural designs that symbolise the incredible capacity of the human mind. Designed by the SANAA architectural firm in Lausanne, the Rolex Centre of Learning has been constructed using the most ground breaking concepts and utilizing the most complex geometry. The Rolex Learning Centre is a large, single building that features a curved shaped and pushes the boundaries of transparency and free movement. The minimally differentiated continuous space is lit by the perfectly rounded courtyards. The technical landscape of the Rolex Learning Centre shares common characteristics with the natural landscape of the Alps, however the gently curved, vivid white structure of this building, maintains its autonomy. Echoing the landscape in its design, the structure resists the actual mimicry of the surroundings and never becomes the landscape itself. Resonating with revolutionary ideas and concepts the Rolex Learning Centre tries to look for an approximate and stimulating dialogue that would introduce a whole new perspective of structuralism. The floor of the centre is constructed using concrete while the roof is constructed from steel components. The steel columns that are utilized to keep the roof up are in a grid of nine by nine meters.

Rolex Learning CentreThe primary objective of the Rolex Learning Centre is to create a living, meeting, and cultural space for students, researchers, personnel as well as the general public, offer all the necessary resources for student activities especially the access to physical and virtual sources of information and provide the scientific community all the infrastructural requirements and tools that are required for optimizing the access to information therefore increasing the speed of the transmission of ideas and encouraging exchanges. The entire building was built to reflect flexibility of purpose so as to be able to integrate new initiatives which are not distinct today, or are unknown and are linked to the social and technological evolution that will come in the next 20 to 30 years. Built to house learning areas, cultural centres, teaching areas, living areas along with a scientific information portion and a library, the Rolex Learning Centre aims to transform the living society through enlightened means of communication. Standing as an icon for social integration and semantics the Rolex Learning Centre seeks to synthesise the society with on the basis of scientific research and advancement. Rolex has always played a vital role in the advancement of the human trace and with this endeavour it seeks to transform society by ushering in the significance of progressive knowledge. To be complete by the autumn of 2009 the Rolex Learning Centre is an effort by Rolex to stir up a revolution that will change the human race forever.

Wheels of Passion: Rolex 24 Sunoco Driver Challenge

Derek JohnstonRacing the tracks, mile after mile with the speeds that defy the acceptable capacity of human endurance, is a thrill that can truly be defined by the man behind the wheel of the sports car. Turning at hair pin bends at break neck speeds and hurtling forward almost instantly to gain ground as well as momentum, these machines almost become an extension of the driver’s spirit and mind. Calibrating speed, calculating the required thrust and propelling forward in a split second to clinch the title, the racers push every known limit to break records and take home the honour of a champion. Rolex has been involved with many world class sporting events and in an effort to aid the racers break the barriers of speed and the capacity of the human spirit, Rolex provides its unhindered support. Triumph can only be achieved when we choose to disregard the limits that fetter the mind and cause it to remain in a state of mediocrity. The capacity to attain greatness is governed by the drive and the resilient commitment to push the body further and transform it into a highly responsive machine that goes forward without any ado. Rolex understands this ambition and more than just supporting these skilled racers, it goes on to celebrate their will and fortitude.

Rolex 24 Sunoco Driver ChallengeThe Rolex 24 Sunoco Driver Challenge sponsored by Rolex was held in Wareham, England on the 13th of May, 2009, Derek Johnston who participated in the UK Radical Cup clinched the top spot following a dramatic turn of events after the spectacular weekend of racing at the Spa-Francorchamps. Racers from Avon Tyres British GT Championship and the combined Radical European Masters as well as the Radical UK Cup competed at Spa-Francorchamps on the weekend form the 8th to the 10th May. Derek Johnston had emerged champion in two classes. One of his two wins was a classically theatrical Spa ‘Heavens Open’ event. At the Rolex 24 at Daytona challenge even though Derek Johnston performed remarkably well only 90 percent of his total winning points will be counted in the overall championship standings. Due to the fact that in a track that has space to accommodate 40 cars only 9 cars had lined up in the grid to compete the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Owing to the very few cars that had participated in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Derek lost out on gaining the full points even though he had to race against experienced and extremely skilled racer Stuart Moseley. This proved to be unfortunate as Derek Johnston would be unable to enjoy the full potential of winning the top spot and the points earned that would place him, further above the other competitors.

Derek Johnston was closely followed by Daniel Ricciardo of the British F3, who in turn was right ahead of Allan Simonsen from the British GT by a few points. These standings could be drastically altered when the next set of riveting races takes place.

Paving the way for attaining the highest forms of perfection in individual achievement, Rolex strives to propound the virtues of pursuit of perfection and devoted labour by constantly providing unfettered support to world class sporting events.
