ABOUT THE ROLEX PRESIDENT (DAY DATE PRESIDENTIAL)

Introduced at the Basel Fair in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date President is the flagship highest-end Rolex wristwatch. Originally named the “Day Date” it gained its name as the “President” when it was gifted by the Rolex corporation to President Dwight D. Eisenhower in honor of his re-election.  Years later the Rolex Day Date wristwatch became the favorite of many U.S. Presidents including Franklin D. Roosevelt.  This made Rolex undertake an aggressive advertising campaign with the slogan, “Men who guide the destinies of the world wear Rolex watches”. Hence, today the Rolex Day-Date is popularly known as the “President” or “Presidential”. 

The President is appreciated mainly for its uniqueness in showing both the date and the day on the dial and today the day is available in 26 different languages. 

The Rolex Day Date President has 2 main features: The “President” bracelet that has thick links with a concealed clasp, and only comes in solid gold or platinum.
